DESCRIPTION:Join us for a guided hike to the entrance of Russell Cave\, the third longest cave system in Alabama with over 11 miles. We will meet at 10 am at the visitor center. The hike is short about 45 minutes but off trail\, so sturdy footwear\, long pants\, and optional walking sticks are recommended. Reservations are required! Limit to 20 people. DESCRIPTION:Experience one of Jackson County’s most unforgettable outdoor adventures with the Sauta Cave National Wildlife Refuge Paddle. This guided evening paddle begins at North Sauty Creek Boat Ramp\, located at 4689 Porter Road in Scottsboro\, and takes participants across the calm waters of Lake Guntersville at sunset before arriving at the incredible Sauta Cave National Wildlife Refuge bat emergence where hundreds of thousands of bats emerge into the night sky in the largest bat emergence in the eastern United States. Guests will enjoy a rare and memorable nature experience in an exclusive guided setting unlike anywhere else in Alabama. \nHeld in celebration of National Cave & Karst Day\, this special event also highlights Jackson County’s incredible cave resources\, including the distinction of having more caves than any other county in the United States. \nThis easy to moderate paddle is limited to just 20 participants per event\, creating a unique small group experience perfect for outdoor enthusiasts\, photographers\, and first time paddlers alike. Kayaks and paddle gear will be provided\, but guests are also welcome to bring their own kayak if preferred. A signed waiver will be required prior to launch.
